What does God want FOR us and what does He want FROM us? These are two of the greatest questions our soul can ask. Our questions lead to QUESTS. We are on a quest to learn how He wants us to fulfill His will. Let’s start with twelve (12) truths that we know directly from Him.
Biblical Instructions
12 Truths from God
1. worship me in spirit and truth
God is a spirit. There is something supernatural about creation and God. This is a fact and can be hard to wrap your head around. Because He is a supernatural spirit, there will always be mystery, but the bible is our blueprint to know God’s truths. The bible has survived centuries despite man. The bible will survive this world. The world has nothing on The Word.
Accepting the spirit part, and that some parts will never be contained in our thoughts or words, helps us grasp His truths. We are to worship all of Him and His truth, mysteries and understandings combined.
John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Psalms 145:18
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
2. Jesus is the only way to me
God has been setting up Jesus coming and return since Genesis. You can’t miss Him! God set it so He would come to earth as a human and show us how to be the best humans we can be. He was perfect. He IS perfection.
We have the bar now, Jesus Christ. We must now spend our days trying to not sin and admonishing ourselves immediately when we do. We must honor His ultimate sacrifice for our salvation.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Acts 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
3. You must be reborn
Personally, I had a true ‘come to Jesus’ moment on 10/2/2002 as an adult. It was truly real and astounding. Only 1 of 2 audibles I have had from the Lord. I am not sure how this feels for someone who accepted Jesus as a child, or someone who doesn’t recall being reborn, but I know I relate to this whole heartedly.
Would love to hear comments from those with thoughts about being reborn!
John 3:3
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.
Acts 4:12
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
4. Everyone must repent
Repenting is something that all of us must do as often as required. Whether thoughts, words or actions, sin is prolific and impossible to remove. Digging into God’s word and growing in spirit will spike the repentance muscle’s capability.
It’s best to think of repentance as actionable upon offense. Don’t wait to repent. Administer that dose immediately!
Luke 13:3
I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
Acts 17:30
In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
5. My Love Redeems You
God lived as a man. Himself, as His Son, our Savior, loves us so much He’s willing to be with us and DWELL in us. He included US in His trinity package. How much more can we see His love!
Although we have the greatest Father, we are not to run rampant and repent our sins away. We are to be convicted by His love and the gift of our salvation. We are to move differently in Christ and strive to be more and more like Him every day. His love is redemptive. Honor this through living His truths and not the world’s.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
6. Faith Brings Eternal Life
Faith doesn’t just bring eternal life. Many folks state they are Christian because they love the idea of the ticket to heaven. But, it doesn’t work that way. You don’t get an ‘eternal life’ ticket by saying you believe in Jesus.
Eternal life comes from believing that Jesus is the Son of God. This belief has changed you. You are new in Christ. You are living for Him and not yourself. Being Christian is not a label, it is a divine change of heart and soul. It is the living Spirit in you. You will never be the same. Always remember to thank God for this gift of salvation.
John 6:47
Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.
7. Love Me and Everyone Else
Loving God is not too great a leap. Loving all others as He loves us is a canyon! As He has created us beautifully flawed souls that fumble through life trying not to trip, we must strive to love EVERYONE the way He loves us!! How good are you at this?
God made everyone and God loves everyone He made. Be sure to check your heart if you start to judge someone else. If you think your sin is so much better than theirs. It may not be easy, but removing divisive barriers that prevent us from loving others is one of the great skills that our Creator wants us to develop. Todays’ times more than ever, we need to see people the way God sees them and love our differences and not use them to divide us.
John 6:47
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
John 13:34-35
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
8. My Word is Absolute
People who met Jesus helped pen the Bible. Their encounters helped to solidify the Old and New Testament truths from God. They made sure to create accounts of His truths to be preserved. Did they imagine that thousands of years later, their accounts would be the most prolifically read words in the world?
God made sure His truths were preserved. He has left archeological evidence of the historical events described in the bible. The Word has been interrogated for historical and translation accuracy and shown to be a stable account of our origin. The most epic origin story there will ever be. The more you get rooted in His word, the more the truths will become bold-faced and highlighted!
John 17:17
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
Psalms 119:160
All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.
9. Humility is Honored
For eternity, humility is honored and the least of us rewarded. FOR ETERNITY!! God is not rewarding merit, accomplishments, accolades, position, power, authority, finances or assets. God is rewarding heart and devotion. He IS keeping score. Eternal life is the upside-down world compared to how most society deems a person worthy.
Our place in heaven will be in direct correlation to how we look to Him on judgment day. Live NOW for judgment day.
Matthew 18:4
Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
James 4:6
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
10. The Kingdom is Eternal
Jesus talks way more about the Kingdom than salvation. He is more impassioned about our destination than our journey. What does that tell you? The destination must be FANTASTIC!!!
We have to get it together folks! We cling to the hem, but what about all of our loved ones? What about the one? What about the 99? There are lost sheep everywhere. For eternal life to be IT and for so many out there to not realize IT? What are we doing? We need to be as on fire for them as Jesus is for us! How can we reach the unreachable and ignite the cold hearted?

2 Corinthians 4:18
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Mark 8:36
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
11. Judgment Day is for All
From the Humility section above, we must live for judgment day now. God is always watching. It’s not so much what we do, but the heart in which we do everything.
Are we worshipping Him, being reborn, repenting, thanking, sanctifying, loving everyone, forgiving others, knowing the bible is truth, humbling ourselves, being wrecked by how much He’s done for us? Are we all those things? Because we will stand before Him one day, and we want all those devotional brownie points to cover up for all the times we messed up. At least I do. Amen!
Matthew 16:27
For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
Hebrews 9:27
Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment
12. Christ Will Return in Glory
The story ends in glory. Revelation is a story of glory. The storms brew around us, but the peace is deep within. It is God’s truth that rests deep within you. You want everyone to feel that peace.
In trying to start a bible study with my non-believing daughter, I picked one about peace to help her with anxiety. For our first day, she quoted Martin Luther King, Jr (pastor, nice) who talked about peace being a privilege. It sparked a great dialogue, after a bit of a contentious one. She’s too smart for me, but I have the power of God on my side. I know He will be victorious! And every challenging conversation strengthens us for the next time we find ourselves in the middle of one.
Our story ends in glory because He will return in glory. While we wait, we must gather the lost and show them the way to the truth and the life in Him.
Mark 13:26
At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
Revelation 22:12
Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.
